Most people don’t know stamped concrete exists until they’re standing on it. They think it’s real flagstone or brick. Then you tell them it’s concrete and they want to know who did it. That’s the whole point.

We’re LCE Concrete Contractor Jacksonville. Four years pouring decorative concrete across Jacksonville, FL. Licensed, bonded, insured. We stamp patios, driveways, pool decks, walkways — and our 5-star Google rating came from people who hired us and then told their neighbors.

The Pour Behind the Pattern

Stamped concrete is still concrete. That means all the boring stuff matters just as much as the pretty stuff on top.

We dig it out, grade the soil, compact it, lay crushed stone, compact that, set forms, tie rebar. Same prep as any structural slab. Skip any of those steps and your stamped patio is going to crack and sink just like a cheap grey one — except now it cost you twice as much.

Here’s where it gets different. We add color directly into the concrete mix before we pour. Not paint. Not stain. The color goes all the way through so a chip ten years from now doesn’t show grey underneath. Once the slab is poured and screeded, we throw down a release agent — that’s the second color that settles into the low spots and gives the pattern depth. Then we press the stamp mats in.

Timing on the stamps is the whole game. Too soft and the pattern smears. Too firm and the mat just sits on top and barely leaves a mark. There’s about a 30-minute window where the concrete is perfect, and that window moves depending on the temperature, the humidity, and the mix. Our guys have done this enough times to read it by feel. That’s not something you learn from a manual.

After the stamps come up, we detail the joints by hand, wash the surface, and roll on sealer. Done right, the finished product looks like hand-laid stone. Done wrong, it looks like a sidewalk somebody stepped on with a fancy shoe. We don’t do the second version.

What's It Going to Cost

Stamped concrete in Jacksonville runs between $12 and $20 a square foot. Regular grey concrete is $6 to $12.

The gap covers color, release agent, stamp work, sealer, and the extra labor time. A single-color ashlar slate patio on flat ground with good soil — that’s your $12 range. A two-tone cobblestone driveway with borders, old slab removal, and soft soil that needs extra base work — that’s pushing $18 to $20.

We quote the job after we see the site. Not before. Internet calculators don’t know what your soil looks like or whether your old patio needs a jackhammer first. We come out, measure, talk through what you want, and hand you a number on paper. That number doesn’t change unless you change the scope.

Patterns People Actually Pick

We can stamp just about any pattern. But here’s what Jacksonville homeowners are actually choosing right now.

Ashlar slate

— clean, rectangular, works on everything. Probably 40 percent of our jobs. It’s the one that makes people say “wait, that’s concrete?”

Random stone and fieldstone

— more natural, less geometric. Good fit for pool decks and backyard patios where you want it to look organic instead of formal.

Herringbone brick

— classic look without the maintenance of real brick. Popular for driveways and front walks.

Wood plank

— this one’s been blowing up. Looks like a wood deck but it’s concrete. No rotting, no termites, no sanding and staining every year. In Florida, real wood decks are basically a part-time job to maintain. Stamped wood plank solves that.

Cobblestone

— old-world look. We see this a lot on driveways and entryways where people want something that stands out from the street.

Color-wise, earth tones dominate — tans, warm greys, browns, terracotta. We use integral color in the mix and a contrasting release agent on top. Two-tone is standard. We’ll show you samples and photos of finished work so you know what you’re getting before we pour a single yard.

Where It Works

Patios — this is the big one. A stamped patio turns a slab of grey concrete into something that actually looks like you spent money on it. No pavers shifting around, no sand washing out, no weeds. One solid surface.

Driveways — we pour these thicker with more steel because they’re taking car weight. A stamped driveway changes the entire front of a house. We use sealers rated for hot-tire pickup so your car tires don’t pull the sealer off in July.

Pool decks — texture matters here. Bare feet, wet surfaces, kids running. We pick patterns and finish techniques that give you traction without making it feel like sandpaper. The sealer resists chlorine and sunscreen stains.

Walkways and front entries — a stamped walkway from the street to your front door is probably the cheapest curb appeal upgrade that actually looks expensive.

Commercial jobs — restaurant patios, retail entries, apartment common areas. Stamped concrete gives a commercial property a custom look on a concrete budget. Holds up to heavy foot traffic and doesn’t need the constant maintenance that pavers do.

Stamped Concrete or Pavers — Settle This Already

People ask us this every week. Here’s the short version: pavers look great on day one. Stamped concrete looks great on day one and day two thousand.

Pavers in Jacksonville have a shelf life. The sand between the joints washes out every time we get a hard rain — and we get a lot of hard rain. Weeds grow in. Fire ants build mounds. Individual pavers sink or shift because the sandy base underneath moves. Three years in, you’re out there with polymeric sand and a rubber mallet trying to fix what shouldn’t need fixing.

Stamped concrete is one solid pour. No joints for weeds. Nothing to shift. The color’s baked in and the sealer protects the surface. Maintenance is resealing every couple of years, which takes maybe an afternoon. That’s it.

And it usually costs 20 to 30 percent less than a comparable paver install upfront. Long-term, the savings get even wider because you’re not paying for annual maintenance and repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Stamped Concrete in Jacksonville

How long will stamped concrete last?

25 to 30 years if the base was done right and you keep up with resealing. We’ve seen stamped patios from the early 2000s that still look sharp because the homeowner resealed every few years. It’s not complicated maintenance — it just has to get done.

It can be if someone over-applies the sealer or uses a pattern with no texture. We add anti-slip grit to the sealer and pick finishes that have enough bite to stay safe when wet. Pool decks and walkways get extra attention on this.

Sometimes. If your current slab is solid — no major cracks, no settling, structurally sound — we can put a stampable overlay on top. But if the slab underneath is failing, an overlay just hides the problem for a year. We’ll tell you the truth about which situation you’re in.

Roughly double. Regular concrete runs $6 to $12 per square foot here in Jacksonville. Stamped runs $12 to $20. But compare that to natural stone at $30-plus or pavers at $15 to $25 with ongoing maintenance costs, and stamped concrete is the middle ground that makes the most financial sense for most people.

Wait at least a week. Light foot traffic after 48 hours is fine, but don’t drag heavy patio furniture or a grill across it until it’s had time to cure. Full strength is 28 days. We’ll tell you exactly what’s safe and when.

Every 2 to 3 years in Jacksonville. Our sun and rain are hard on sealers. It’s a half-day job — clean the surface, roll on a fresh coat, let it dry. We can do it for you or walk you through doing it yourself. Either way, it’s the single most important thing you can do to keep your stamped concrete looking right.

Call or text. We respond the same day. We’ll come look at the job, show you pattern and color options, and give you a written estimate with a real number. No games, no high-pressure close, no calling you back six times if you don’t book immediately.
